OH & S Policy (Occupational Health and Safety Policy) is intentions and direction of organization officially declared by top management to prevent the occurrence of accident incidents that cause harm and to provide a healthy workplace. Who is responsible to develop this OH & S policy is top management in an organization.
When establishing OHS policy there are a few things you should consider in fact has become a necessity in establishing OHS policies, what is it?
- Commitment to provide safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work related injury and ill health and is appropriate to the purpose, size and context of the organization and to the specific nature of its OH&S risks and OH&S opportunities
- Commitment provides a framework for setting the OH&S objectives;
- Includes a commitment to fulfill legal requirements and other requirements;
- Commitment to eliminate hazards and reduce OH&S risks (see 8.1.2);
- Commitment to continual improvement of the OH&S management system;
- Commitment to consultation and participation of workers, and, where they exist, workers’ representatives.
